Bangladeshi film superstar Shakib Khan’s latest movie ‘Borbadh’ was showcased at the Bangladesh Film Certification Board. On Tuesday, March 25, renowned director and board member Kazi Hayat attended the screening. However, as he was leaving after the screening, Shakib Khan’s fans blocked his car at the gate.

After the car was blocked, Kazi Hayat got out and tried to talk to the fans, but instead, they started chanting, “Who are you, who am I, Shakibian, Shakibian”. This led to a heated exchange of words between the director and the fans.

In response to the incident, Kazi Hayat’s son and actor Kazi Maruf protested. He spoke about the matter in a Facebook Live session.
Maruf explained, “Kazi Hayat is a member of the Bangladesh Film Certification Board. Whatever he did was entirely his decision, and he made it for the betterment of the film and the country.”
During this time, Kazi Hayat made a comment saying “I also have Maruf’s people.”, which further intensified the backlash. Following this, Maruf received insults and threats through his Facebook inbox and comments.
Regarding this, Maruf clarified, “When my father said ‘Maruf has people,’ it meant I had an audience. I used to have an audience for my films. But today’s audience prefers violence over story-driven movies, so they may not like my films.”
Efforts to Ruin the Relationship with Shakib Khan?
Kazi Maruf also claimed that some parties are trying to ruin the relationship between him and Shakib Khan.
He said, “My relationship with Shakib is good, and I don’t want you to let that be ruined. If it does, nothing will change for me or my father, and the same goes for Shakib.”
Call to Shakib Khan
In the final part of the live session, Kazi Maruf addressed Shakib Khan directly, saying, “Shakib, I deliberately didn’t call you, you take care of this matter.”
Human Chain for ‘Borbadh’ Release
At 12 p.m. that day, Shakib Khan’s fans formed a human chain in front of the Film Certification Board, demanding the immediate release of ‘Borbadh’ without any conditions. They gathered with banners and placards, urging the board to release the movie as soon as possible.
Earlier, when Kazi Hayat left the screening, Shakib’s fans blocked his car again, and after he got out of the car to speak with them, a verbal confrontation followed.
